The Plot:
Mazel-tov! It is the first night of Hanukkah and you have been invited to George Schimmel’s party at his mansion in the Hamptons. George is a wealthy entrepreneur and lives with his extended family and in-laws, the Greenbergs. His friends, family, and business associates are flying in from all over to come together to celebrate the festival at lights. The extravagant party is full of colorful decorations with plenty of mechaya fried foods. You’re expecting to have a pleasant evening playing dreidel games and noshing on latkes, sufganiyot, and chocolate gelt. Some of you are here to have a happy Hanukkah but others are here for more sinister reasons. Consider everyone a suspect and ask your questions thoroughly.
The Schimmel family menorah is a priceless antique that has been in the family for generations. Because it is so fragile, it is kept safely in the attic and only brought out during Hanukkah. When it came time to light George Schimmel’s menorah this evening, Rabbi Epstein returned from the attic saying that it was nowhere to be found. Someone meshungina must have stolen it! But who had the chutzpah to do such a thing? The attic door is locked, so whoever was in there would have needed a key. One of you is the criminal. The rest of you need to find out who it is before the whole evening goes farklempt and the party is kaput. When you have found someone with a motive to steal George’s menorah, a key to get into the attic, and who was in or around the attic tonight, then you may have found the true culprit.
