The Setting:
It is the 1980s, "the
decade that taste forgot" that saw the launch of the MTV
generation. You are going to MTV Studios in New York City to
record a benefit single entitled "The World Is Us" with dozens
of other popular musicians of this era. The event is called Live
Care and has been put together by powerful MTV music mogul,
Craig Bittman. The proceeds from this charity single will be
used to build animal shelters for stray cats. Some of you are
attending to help the cause, while others of you are here for
more sinister reasons. Consider everyone a suspect and ask your
questions thoroughly. The murder will be implicated in three
ways: A Motive, weapon, and opportunity. Many players will have
two of these things but only one of you will have all three. For
the best results concentrate your questions in these three
areas. Everyone must tell the truth except for the criminal. He
or she is the only person who can lie.
The Crime:
It was time to start recording "The World Is Us" and everyone
was gathering into the recording studio. You heard a scream and
everyone noticed the body of Craig Bittman in the isolation
booth. He was pronounced dead from a gunshot - the shot was
muffled by the soundproof booth. One of you is the killer. The
rest of you need to find out who it was. When you have found
someone with a motive, a gun, and who was in the recording
studio this evening, then you may have found the true murderer.
The Party:
The Musical Meltdown can be modified for teens, church
groups, and corporate events. Please contact a specialist if you are in need
of a
fundraiser. This
mystery can accommodate groups ranging in size from 8 to 50 male and female
roles. If you have more than 50 people, please contact us.
