The Setting:
Welcome to Scranton,
Pennsylvania. You’ve been invited to attend a Christmas party at
the Scranton office of the Dunder Mifflin paper company. This
year’s Christmas party will celebrate a new business partnership
that unites Dunder Mifflin with several other paper
distributors, and Initech Software Development. On the
insistence of regional manager, Michael Scott, the party is
being held at the Scranton office and employees from all over
the world are attending. The Party Planning Committee has been
working round the clock to decorate the office with holiday
cheer. Garland and holly are lining the walls, mistletoe and
wreaths hang from the doorways, and a majestic tree towers over
a bounty of gifts. Some of you are Dunder Mifflin office
employees here to celebrate Christmas, some of you are visiting
Scranton for the first time from other companies – but several
of you have come with sinister motives in mind. Consider
everyone a suspect and ask your questions thoroughly. The thief
will be implicated in three ways: a motive, the opportunity, and
had access to a stapler.
The Crime:
Dressed
in a traditional Santa Claus costume, Michael Scott suddenly
decided he would make the day “more special” by acting out the
role of Santa. He collected all the presents from under the tree
and put them in his gift bag to be distributed by him personally
in typical Santa fashion. But when it came time to officially
light the office Christmas tree, Michael was nowhere to be
found. As the colored lights flashed on, Michael emerged
haggardly from the break room and demanded that everyone “stop
Christmas immediately!” After calming down, Michael explained
that while he was in the break room he was ambushed by an unseen
figure who clobbered him with a stapler. When he came to, he
discovered that the bag of gifts had been stolen! Who among you
would attack Michael and steal Christmas? One of you is the
thief, the rest of you need to find out who the culprit is, find
the stolen gifts, and save Christmas. When you find someone with
a motive to attack Michael Scott; who was at the scene of the
crime today this evening – the break room; and who possesses the
weapon – a stapler; then you may have found the true thief. GOOD
LUCK!!
